| Value Added Benefits |
 |
| Employee benefits beyond health insurance provide a great asset for companies. Employees appreciate the extra value, and often those extra benefits affect longevity of employment. Granite Benefits excels in integrating these value-added benefits to your package design with the minimum cost to you. Here are a few that many companies like to offer their employees. |
 |
Life/Accidental Death & Dismemberment
Group Life Insurance provides a death benefit for employees
and is optional for their dependents at a very affordable
cost. Employees can volutarily enhance these benefits
at no direct cost to the employer through payroll deduction. |
 |
Disability Income
For most people, their earning potential is their greatest
financial asset. Nearly one in seven can expect to become
disabled for five years, or more, prior to age 65. Disability
income replacement can be tailored to specific company
needs and budget requirements. Many employers provide
a policy that can protect their employees for short-term
disabilities with a Short Term Disability plan. Most experts
agree that the most devastating disability is a long-term
illness. Long Term Disability can provide income replacement
to maintain employees and their families for an extended
period of time. |
 |
Vision Many employers add vision benefits to enhance competitiveness in today's tight job market. Concerned by the potential vision-related ailments affecting computer users, employees perceive vision care as a valuable benefit. Employers will benefit from the increased productivity of employees with improved vision. |

401(k) 401(k) plans, established and regulated by the Internal Revenue Code, are now a primary retirement savings vehicle. Participants can choose to defer a portion of their income and payment of taxes until retirement. All plan assets grow tax deferred. They can be funded exclusively with employee deferrals or with employer discretionary matching contributions. These contributions, within applicable legal limits, are tax deductible. Because 401(k) plans are flexible, they can be customized to meet a variety of retirement plan goals for a broad range of businesses. For more about 401(k) strategies, see our page at 401(k) |

Section 125
Sanctioned plans, governed by IRS Code Section 125, allow
employees to pay insurance premiums, childcare expenses
and un-reimbursed medical expenses on a pre-tax basis.
Both employees and employers pay less in taxes. This option
requires a good third-party administrator to utilize the
benefits of Section 125. Granite Benefits can assist you
with contracting the right firm for this valuable service. |

Long Term Care Benefit
The expense and time involved in the ever expanding long-term
care responsibilities for many employees has resulted
in increased indirect employer costs. Work/Life benefits
are being incorporated into employer's benefit programs
to help employees balance thier working needs and personal
lives. Long Term Care is an asset protection program,
providing a level of coverage designed to meet nursing
home care as well as home health care protection.
One of the benefits of Long Term Care on a group basis
is that an employer does NOT have to offer it to
ALL employees. Often this benefit is utilized for key
employees, management, owners, and their corresponding
family members. Options to have a "paid up" long-term
care policy after so many years is an attractive feature
for those employees. Often referred to as "golden handcuffs,"
this benefit can be the key to maintaining your key employees
up to their retirement years. |
 |
Employee Communication
Communicating your benefits program to your employees
is as critical to your program's success as designing
the right plans. We hold employee benefits meetings for
your employees whenever you implement a new plan and at
least annually thereafter. We are available throughout
the year for telephone or in-person conferences for your
employees. We develop quality presentation materials for
you to use in providing new employees with an overview
of your benefits program. |
 |
Employee Handbook
No matter what type of business you're in, an employee
handbook is a must-have. Even if you have only one employee,
formally writing down your policies in an employee handbook
could keep you out of court. We will help you update or
create one for your employee needs. For more information,

Voluntary Worksite
Traditional medical insurance doesn't cover every expense
related to an illness, injury or death. The bills and
expenses continue to add up, especially if one has to
stop working and lose income. How will one pay the deductibles
or co-payments, and other increasing medical costs not
covered by your employer-sponsored insurance plan? Supplemental
insurance can help one prepare for these and other out-of-pocket
expenses. Most of all, these plans help take away the
worry about how to pay for out-of-pocket medical and other
everyday life bills. Without this worry, you can focus
on getting better. |
